Figure skating

Hanyu became the first skater to score more than 100 points in a short program and went on to become the 2014 Olympic champion, winning Japan's first-ever Olympic gold in men's figure skating.

Horse racing

The men's team won their fourth NCAA Tournament Championship. In the NCAA the women's team won a record-tying eighth national championship.

The Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 is the 12th running of this ocean marathon. The El Salvador Amputee National Football team was founded in 1987 by veterans who lost their limbs during the civil war in the Central American nation.
